Abrilata's Blabber Blahs

It’s exams week for the kids and my four day holiday was partly dedicated to focus on reviewing ‘em, hubs was away for two days in Dumaguete, brought home their famous Sans Rival sylvanas as pasalubong.

“The Good Samaritan” - At the airport while waiting for the shuttle, wearing his casual clothes, a conversation was started by an OFW, a DH from Macau who was previously worked in HK. During the talk, he asked her if it was easy to go around Macau just like in HK (since I plan on going) and she actually thought he was thinking of “trying” his luck in finding work in Macau. Since a lot of OFWs work there. He told her: “Hindi Ate, mag-ttour”. (hehehe)

When the shuttle finally arrived, two foreigners with connecting flights from Manila to somewhere were hesitant in boarding the shuttle after learning that it is not FREE. Since, they do not have pesos or probably the lack of it. Hubs did pay for the two and got sincere thanks from them when they were dropped at T1; he hoped that his simple gesture will give them a good lasting positive impression on us Filipinos. ;P

I seldomly admit it but I really am proud of him that I had to post this story. :)

It’s Tues at work and I’m on meds to control my colds. I hate the feeling of not being fully well at work and the meds make me sleepy. To add on to this sleepyness, sluggishness at work, C bought everyone lunch at Mackers. Hell Noh! Antok…antok…antok.

I look forward to Friday – QC Day – Holiday! – No Work and School for the Kids.

I filed for M-TH-F (3 days of PTO) before I get busy again with classes. I stayed home and worked on Juno’s 5th bday invites to amuse myself. The one on top is the final. Here are some of the drafts I did.

Pinoy Fiestas and Parties August 9, 2011

Greenfields celebrated its 3rd year at the site and had our pantry dressed ala Filipino Fiesta, which brings our team into talking about old Filipino fiesta games we know that are now seldom done. We also talked about old-school parlor games done during birthdays. Here’s how they are played/done. Pinoy style.

Palo Sebo – Climbing a greased pole with a prize on top.
Pukpok Palayok – Hitting a clay pot full of goodies, blindfolded.
Agawang baboy – Try, catch and get hold of a greased pig (poor pig), winner gets a prize.
Pabitin – Jump and get a prize from a hanging bamboo frame tied with goodies.
Trip to Jerusalem
Newspaper dance
and so many more…

Good Times!

Weh?! August 9, 2011

Filed under: Random Thoughts — abrilata @ 6:51 am

I am still suffering from my idiot decision last year, deleting my play list (thinking of changing and updating it – but left with nothing now)Ok, so I’m stuck with my old music files from my work PC.

I then don’t have a choice but listen to Babyface’s “What If” song. Which makes me think that people, well I guess we all have our own versions of what ifs, – and it doesn’t necessarily have to be love related.

Here’s the lyrics of the song anyway.

I ran into a friend of yours the other day
And I asked her how you been
She said my girl is fine jus bought a house
Got a job a real good man
I told her I was glad for u that’s wonderful
But does she ever ask bout me
She said shes happy with her life right now
Let her go let her be

And I told myself I would
but something in my heart would just not let you go
I just want to know

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me
Still wanting me

Your friend asked me if there was some1 special
in my life that I was seeing
I told her there was no1 in particular
There’s jus I myself and me
I told her that I dream of you quite often
she jus cut her eyes at me
she said you’ve got a home you’re very happy
so jus stop your meddling

I told her that I won’t
I said that things were cool
but I guess I was wrong
I still cant move on

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me
Still wanting me

Now that could be my car
that could be my house
that could be my baby boy
that you’re nursing
that could be the trash
That I always take out
that could be the chair
I love to chill in

That could be my food on the table at the end of the day
hugs and the kisses all the love being made
what the hell do u expect me to say
what if its really supposed be this way
what if you’re really supposed to be with me

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me
Still wanting me

What if we were wrong about each other
what if you were really made for me
what if we were supposed to be together
would that not mean anything
what if that was supposed to be my house
that you go home to everyday
how can you be sure that things are better
if you cant be sure your heart ain’t still here with me
Still wanting me

Showbizz Locals August 9, 2011

Tues is back to work day, and since I was out the day before, I missed on the office chismisan. :P

E and A are also free of classes this week and we take chatter advantages since were merely stuck to hi and goodbye during ramp season. (Including our chatty new coaches B and R)

Our senseless Tues topic was, lo and behold:

What has become of the following local celebrities?

- Star Struck finalist – Yasmien Kurdi – back to school, college taking up Nursing.
- Star Struck finalist – Reiner Castillo – now with Channel 5
- GIMIK – Bojo Molina – No News
- GIMIK – Rica Peralejo – now a Pastor’s wife.

M is also back from his three-day birthday leave and now has his prized birthday gift. Sabi ko pa experience naman. It was a nice break to stay home for a day but I missed working too and seeing my friends.

Yesterday was a fine, stay at home day to chillax. Family knew I was stayin’ home for the day, Hubs had a later than usual sched and took him longer than usual to prep – TINATAMAD mode. I told him, he denied it, but I got a text message soon enough after he left, almost confirming. :)

The kids too were happy and excited knowing I’m home, I heard them calling me excitedly as soon as the school bus dropped them off from school.

Debbie & Wilson Phillips August 6, 2011

My Saturday morning was spent on searchin’ 80′s music on youtube. My office friends and I enjoyed reminiscin old hits we enjoyed then. Funny that we know the lyrics and their hits. hahaha halatang mag-kaka edad kami. I remember back in gradeschool we danced to “electric youth” if I’m not mistaken. A female artist who can actually sing good and is beautiful without being slutty? Today’s music industry is in dire need of artists like her. It’s nice to remember the 80′s. I wonder what have become of DG and WP?

Promoting Philippine Tourism August 6, 2011

Filed under: Random Thoughts,Travel and See the world! — abrilata @ 3:06 am

2,735 around the world viewed my latest travel reviews. This was just for seven days. Lovit!

In my own lil way, I write travel reviews and blog about places in the Philippines to promote tourism and encourage people around the world to see our country.

I sure hope I invite the right kinds though. Hehehe…

Finally Friday! August 5, 2011

Filed under: Random Thoughts — abrilata @ 12:41 am

Wooohooo! I’m such a Friday fanatic. It’s my class’ last day too. Oh Yes!

We really do not have anything grand planned for the family weekend but it feels good to know that for two days, it’s ok to stay a little later in bed and not wake up at 5am.

Saturday – probably go scout some good deals on clothes for us and the kids, new stuff for them since they grow up fast. Visit in-laws; Dadi’s coming home from his six-day trip from Athens, Greece – work related. Saturday too marks our official movie night via projector – well, that is if Hubs is not tamad to set it up. Love love family days. :)

Sunday – Aug 7 is Aki’s Dedication at Kowloon House. Time to see HS friends. Ninang ako, ulit. hehehe… Dami ko na inaanak. Speaking of inaanak, I still owe Enzo a gift, another inaanak, Jenny’s son. Jenny also a highschool friend. Enzo was baptized in July, but we had something pre-sched then so we didn’t go. Bawi na lang ako.

Monday – I did file my acquired leave from June, Rizal’s 150th birthday. I have plans for that day, house fixtures and probably see my OB.

Were you home and aware of what happened in Manila the past few days? Well I was.

Christopher Lao, who thinks the world owes him an explanation. Google him better yet. Youtube!

Ma’a salama Loogie August 3, 2011

Filed under: My Family, My Life,Random Thoughts — abrilata @ 8:21 am

My cousin Loogie leaves today for Egypt, where he joins ship. I have mixed feelings about him leaving though, happy that he’s off to start another chapter of his life and help augment their family’s finances. Loogie, at 20, is a single dad of a two-year old boy – Miggy, who lives with them and is taken care of my Aunt while Loogie finished school. (WTF, I know right) hehehe. Where Miggy’s mom is… well, is a different story. I’m sure both father and son will really miss each other, they remind me of Marlin and Nemo from the movie Finding Nemo by Disney-Pixar.

Maybe I just can’t get over the fact that he’s an adult now. I still see him as one of my little baby cousins I used to boss around “Psst, kuha mo ko tubig” or “Bili ka nang ___ sa tindahan” (Disclaimer: I’m not mean) LOL

Even if I haven’t seen him as much since I’ve married, I can’t help but feel sad. Oh, but I really wish him well. Bettawfeeq!
