American Idol Season 11

I’m not really a fan of AI but this season is just exceptional. Most especially for the filipino nation worldwide Since, Jessica Sanchez half filipino’s part of the top two contenders.

Both she and Phillip Phillips are very much talented but seing them both perform, I guess my AI is Phillip. He has more passion when singing, something that I really do not see much from Jessica. No offense, she is an outstanding performer. But then I feel that she just stands there, mesmerizing people with her awesome voice but as a performer, you’ve got to get the audience into the song too, get them in the mood.

Well, this is just my personal opinion. I know a lot of people LOVE her. I do too. It’s just that Phillip Phillips is an ALL-in ONE deal.

Tues is back to work day, and since I was out the day before, I missed on the office chismisan. :P

E and A are also free of classes this week and we take chatter advantages since were merely stuck to hi and goodbye during ramp season. (Including our chatty new coaches B and R)

Our senseless Tues topic was, lo and behold:

What has become of the following local celebrities?

- Star Struck finalist – Yasmien Kurdi – back to school, college taking up Nursing.
- Star Struck finalist – Reiner Castillo – now with Channel 5
- GIMIK – Bojo Molina – No News
- GIMIK – Rica Peralejo – now a Pastor’s wife.

M is also back from his three-day birthday leave and now has his prized birthday gift. Sabi ko pa experience naman. It was a nice break to stay home for a day but I missed working too and seeing my friends.

Yesterday was a fine, stay at home day to chillax. Family knew I was stayin’ home for the day, Hubs had a later than usual sched and took him longer than usual to prep – TINATAMAD mode. I told him, he denied it, but I got a text message soon enough after he left, almost confirming. :)

The kids too were happy and excited knowing I’m home, I heard them calling me excitedly as soon as the school bus dropped them off from school.

My Saturday morning was spent on searchin’ 80′s music on youtube. My office friends and I enjoyed reminiscin old hits we enjoyed then. Funny that we know the lyrics and their hits. hahaha halatang mag-kaka edad kami. I remember back in gradeschool we danced to “electric youth” if I’m not mistaken. A female artist who can actually sing good and is beautiful without being slutty? Today’s music industry is in dire need of artists like her. It’s nice to remember the 80′s. I wonder what have become of DG and WP?

I’m not really a Sharon Cuneta fan but being pinoy, I know and I’m sure that you’ve seen one or two of her films.

Here’s a memorable one for me. click here.

Great movie with the family, we are now certified Jack Black fanatics.

Our Favorite Scenes (I am the official spoiler):

- Po as a baby panda, addicted to radish and eats almost anything. (even Mr. Ping’s (his dad’s) furniture)
- Po and his dad the goose’ confrontation about him being adopted and admits he had a hunch on it all along. (funny!)
- Po saying he faces his old enemy (which was the stairs)an eye-brow raiser for the “Five”

New characters were voiced by prestigious artists like Michelle Yeoh (as Master Shen’s soothsayer) and Jean-Claude Van Damme (as Master Croc)

The movie ends with Po’s real dad having felt his son’s triumph over Shen’s defeat. Realizes his son is alive. (So, may part three. I told you – I’m the official spoiler)

Nice Tuesday family movie date! :D

Family Night DVD Fun May 31, 2011

Yeah, I know I’m such a spoiler… Just Go with It is a 2011 romantic comedy film starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston. The film was released on February 11, 2011, Aniston’s 42nd birthday.

The film is based on the 1969 film, Cactus Flower and was very loosely remade.

My fave scenes/parts of the film.

- Maggie using a fake British accent.

- Michael blackmails Danny in front of Palmer to take them all to Hawaii.

- Eddie pretends to be an Austrian sheep salesman and “Devlin’s” lover.

- Danny and Katherine run into the real life Devlin Adams (Nicole Kidman) and her husband Ian Maxtone-Jones (Dave Matthews), who allegedly invented the iPod. Because of Katherine and Devlin’s long time rivalry, Katherine introduces Danny as her husband.

- Danny and Katherine end up saying honest things to each other, with Katherine admiring his sense of humor, and Danny admiring the fact that he’s never had to lie to her. Danny and Katherine start to feel a connection. (Sweety, Cheesy)

- Devlin and Katherine’s hula badass dance-off.

- The coconut relay by both couples as a tie-breaker.

- Maggie thrown intentionally by Danny during their hiking trip.

- Eddie resuscitates the dead sheep. (Hubs had to click on pause, Zoe had to gag me up to stop myself from laughing hard. Annoying daw ako. Mga KJ!)

- Katherine confides in Devlin saying she’s in love with Danny even though they won’t be together.(Awww)

*** ’till next movie marathon with the Fam. We originally wanted to watch this in the movie house. Good thing we’re home instead. I would’ve been given point blank deadly stares during the movie credits. :)

Dirty Thirties Era May 25, 2011

Struck up a morning conversation with T my work-colleague and talked about books that moved us.

Due to memory loss after two childbirths and anesthesia, I had to copy its summary online.

The Longest Road by Jeanne Williams

For Laurie Field, life is a series of hellos and good-byes, of attachments cut short by the struggle for survival in America’s Dust Bowl. When a violent dust storm leaves their mother dead and the family farm in ruins, Laurie and her brother help their father load up the flivver and leave Kansas-aiming for a better life. At the side of the road, the Fields meet handsome wayfarer Johnny Morrigan. Although he is with them for only a short time, Johnny makes a painful journey easier with his gentle manner and songs of struggle and hope written by Woody Guthrie and other American greats. Her father travels to California in search of work, leaving Laurie and her brother in the care of their autocratic grandfather. Anxious to see her family reunited, Laurie heads for California. Disguised as a boy, she and her brother hop the rails and begin a long journey into happiness and disappointment–and danger, when wealthy oilman W.S. Redwine takes an interest in Laurie. Laurie’s heart belongs to Johnny, wherever he may be, but Redwine will go to any lengths to make a place in her life. Laurie is equally determined to find a new home with her family, and Redwine is only one of the many obstacles she must overcome in this compelling story of one courageous and passionate woman.
