Promoting Philippine Tourism August 6, 2011

Filed under: Random Thoughts,Travel and See the world! — abrilata @ 3:06 am

2,735 around the world viewed my latest travel reviews. This was just for seven days. Lovit!

In my own lil way, I write travel reviews and blog about places in the Philippines to promote tourism and encourage people around the world to see our country.

I sure hope I invite the right kinds though. Hehehe…

Back in KL, I was in for a surprise; grin and bear it in my whole 29 years of existence on earth.

1.) Use a floor toilet. (Sunway Lagoon)

- I noticed that almost all toilets in KL have these types (but some had one-two regular toilets at the far end, but most Malaysians prefer these floor toilets)
- I was in for a surprise after falling in line and seeing that it’s the floor type. Oh no! (No choice) Baka isipin nila, ang arte ko naman and I don’t wanna fall in line again. I felt violated after. LOL

2.) Wear icky drive shoes for Go-Kart (Genting Highlands)

- I wore my trusted fitflops to atleast air clean my sneaks and later on regret the idea.
- They do not allow driving in flip flops and provide their own icky canvass shoes to those wearing flips. Another Oh No! I had to digest the fact that I needed to wear these. At first I said to Hubs, Ayoko na, sya na lang. But he wouldn’t hear any of it (After falling in line for 1.5 hours)
- I hated the fact that he had this goofy look all-along and loved every minute as I wore those wet smelly drive shoes that he even had a solution on how I’d go by after the drive even while it hasn’t started yet then. (Sabi nya ibabad ko daw sa tide/ariel with bleach ang paa ko with a few drops of muriatic acid) Thanks Love, you just know how to raise my spirits at times like these.
- Unfortunately we were on the go so I had to resort to just cleaning my feet with Wet Wipes that day. (Yak!) Never again.

Lessons learned:

- Wear sneakers or if you really must wear your “chinelas”, have a pair of handy socks in your bag, less hassle to bring than another pair of shoes.
- Do not wait for your bladder to burst before looking for the nearest restroom. This will give you ample time to choose a cleaner, much comfortable toilet.
- Bring tons of baby wipes – I never ran out of it anyway. They do wonders and has a lot of purpose. (deserves a post of its own – Wet wipes usages) Some establishments, even if well-known and entrance fees are ridiculously high – they, due to massive customers patronizing them, still run out of toilet paper. So, let the girlscout in you take action and “always be prepared” for scenarios like these. :)

I’m going after all May 19, 2011

Next stop for the family is CORON, Palawan.
There were mishaps with our flight to Busuanga and I was given three options:

1. Fly to a different domestic destination.
2. Fly via a different airline.
3. Full refund.

Then when I called their hotline, the airline now operate flights to Busuanga again. 0_o

Ok fine, it’s a good thing I saved my prepared itinerary. But this time I’m thinkin of staying here instead, a newer place in Coron.

*** I’m still deliberating If I’ll stay here. I’m not being racist but they say that Koreans are maiingay and walang pakundangan. As per Sir Ed of Whites & Greens in Panglao, they really do not accept Korean guests because of their bad experiences with them. Nag-sisigawan kahit sa madaling araw and walang pakialam sa ibang guests. I would have to talk to Cherry (our contact for our tour package) about this.

After a long day at Sunway Lagoon, the kids tucked in at my in-laws room. Hubs and I decided to walk and explore KL a little. Here’s where our feet brought us:

with a few drinks in hand, it was our time to catch up with what’s happening in our lives, individually, work-related, our life plans and where we are at. Life is good. :)

Selamat Datang May 16, 2011

…. Welcome…. it’s a sign you’d see around touristy places in Malaysia.

We’ll I’m back after my five (six actually) days in Kuala Lumpur. I did our itinerary, planned on commuting and taking advantage of their public transport, but my in-laws decided on getting the hotel’s trusted guide instead. ;)

Here’s a rundown on how we spent those days: (pics to follow, i’ll use my own)

Day 1 – Easy Day – Mall Day – Look around Bukit Bintang and explore ala DORA.

• Sungei Wang Mall
• Low Yat Plaza (IT/Techy Mall with all the gadgets)
• Berjaya Times Square (their Greenhills like type of mall)

Day 2 – KL Day Tour – c/o our Driver/Guide Mr. Azman Hashim (RM 250 – for drop off and pick up only)

• Leather Factory
• Beryl’s Chocolate Factory
• Royal Palace
• Muzium Negara
• Onyx and Pewter Factory
• Batu Caves
• KL Tower – but we didn’t go up the viewing deck coz it was foggy so we were advised to just have it on a different day and at an earlier time.
• Twin Towers – It pays to read: P, I didn’t know that you have to be there really early to get tickets to go up the skybridge. So we just went around the mall to look for good finds. :P

Day 3 – Sunway Lagoon and Sunway Pyramid Mall – c/o our Driver/Guide Mr. Azman Hashim (RM 120 – for drop and pick up only – half day only)

*We didn’t bring any swim attires for Sunway was not part of our itinerary, hubs had to buy the kids and himself suits from the mall. We got them nice ones since they’ll still use them eventually.

• Sunway Lagoon – water park, kids and adults will enjoy
– Got the All Park Ticket which covers all the indoor and outdoor rides. (Includes entrance for all five parks Extreme Park, Amusement Park, Wild Life Park, Water Park & Scream Park.
• Sunway Pyramid Mall – adjacent to the water park.

Day 4 – Genting Highlands – c/o our Driver/Guide Mr. Azman Hashim (RM 300 – for drop and pick up only; excluding entrance fees)
– Got the All Park Ticket which covers all the indoor and outdoor rides.

Day 5 – Easy Day – c/o our Driver/Guide Mr. Azman Hashim (RM200 – for drop and pick up only + Airport drop off)

• KL Tower – This time we went ahead since it was still early, went up and viewed KL through the Tower.
• Suria KLCC – to have lunch
• Twin Towers – just to take pictures before we go.

For the last day, our guide drove us around KL and dropped us off at the airport, we paid him RM200 even if his fee was just RM120. The extra was for taking time to tour us again and go back to the places we had to re-visit and for being such a nice guide and making our holiday in MY special.

I’m posting our tour guide’s contact details:
If you wanna spare yourself from all the hassle, just sit back and relax, get him.

Two more April 25, 2011

My Monday started at 530-ish in R house. Norman walked with me again ’till the familiar curb after a few years, but then this time a little further (I wondered why) turns out, that there is now a certain waiting area for trikes. LOL

It took me 30 minutes or so to reach work via public transport, not bad, I guess.

Yesterday’s egg-hunt was a success, even if it had last minute preparations. Kids and even much smaller kids (with their parents) joined the event. In the afternoon, I invited my family over for some food I prepared. Overall the three-day weekend was a gem, a time to reflect, time to reunite with my family and catch up our old friends from R. It was relaxing to have that same old feeling back in that house, cliché but it was a time to smell the flowers.

New class starts today, two weeks of training and then it’s Zoe’s birthday week in Kuala Lumpur. I just need to find that itinerary I did a few months back, I hope we enjoy our trip. I know Benny (my luggage) is as excited.

Now, to find that iti…
